Breen Laid to Rest

State Militia Members Fire Volley Over Grave and "Taps" Is Sounded

The remains of Sergeant Eugene Breen arrived from Camp Dix yesterday afternoon and were at once taken to the home of the parents, Policeman and Mrs. Michael Breen, on Myer Street. The casket was wrapped in Stars and Stripes. The young soldier's face showed no signs of any suffering and his death was peaceful, as stated by Mrs. Breen, who was with him in the end.

Many beautiful floral tokens were taken to the home. A pillow from the Police Department, displaying the form and colors of the Stars and Stripes, was particularly appropriate, the handwork of Mrs. Heater. Another magnificent token came from a number of 'Gene's boy friends, headed by Harry Giarratano, J. Jeffries, and Thomas Ryan.

A detachment of Hackensack State Militia members attended the interment this morning, following the sevices in the Holy Trinity Church. The regulation volley was fired over the grave, and a buglar sounded "Taps" with the usual impressiveness.
